If you are up for a boudoir shoot, you’ve already won the mental battle. In a mental sense it’s important to get yourself in an open-minded mindset. Make a list of reason why you are happy and comfortable in your skin. Being aware of your favourite body parts and angles will help you communicate with the photographer so that you can bring the best out of the shoot.
In preparation, visualize yourself in the in the clothes you will be wearing during the shoot, especially if you will be taking on a different persona. Think of a storyline and allow your body to tell the story.
Going for beauty treatments such as waxing, a facial, a manicure and pedicure will help enhance your natural beauty and allow you to feel comfortable. When timing your beauty treatments consider the following:
- Visit the hair salon a few days in advance to make sure that you are happy with the end result.
- Try to stay out of the sun to prevent red blotchy skin on the day.
- Don’t go for a spray tan before your shoot
- Also wax a few days ahead of time to avoid redness and bumps.
- Drink plenty of water for hydrated skin
- Avoid too much salt and alcohol if you don’t want to retain water.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing on the day of the shoot to avoid red marks on the body
Book your boudoir shoot a couple of months in advance if you feel the need to tone up a bit. There are plenty of at home exercise routines online that will help you firm up and look sleek. If you want to look natural doing tricky poses, work on your flexibility and poise as well.
